Our first house was a cute little bungalow that need a lot of love! Enjoy the transformation!

*Updated page and pictures coming soon!*

Little to nothing has been done with the front exterior of the house. Landscape is the first thing in order and I’d love to someday paint the house and replace the windows on the porch (since they don’t work) or maybe just tear them out and open the front porch entirely.  I think that could look really cosy.

The living room was a very light neutral color and several of the windows didn’t have finish trim on the tops. Technically this picture was taken after a little love was already shown to the room (furniture, window trim, etc), however it’s the only “before” picture I have.

We painted the walls Tyler Taupe by Benjamin Moore and trim Moonrise by Easy Living. We trashed the old window treatments and replaced them with something much cleaner and more attractive.
Here is another “before photo of the other side of the living room.
After: All the molding really stands out with the dark wall color.

The dining room was a deep green color and had trees on the ceiling. Once again this picture was taken after the action had already started. Sorry for the poor quality photo; at least it makes the transformation all the more amazing!
Although the dining roomwas one of the better rooms in the house, we chose to tackle this room first because we thought it would be the least amount of work. We sanded, primed and painted the ceiling and walls. It looked a thousand times better but ended up changing again when we redid our kitchen.
Once again, I failed to take a before picture of the other side of the room, so here’s the after but before the kitchen renovation with all it’s blank walls.
The kitchen was due for a major overhaul and the dining room got caught up in it as well. We planned to demo and rebuild the kitchen from scratch with a new floor plan, which would work much better and provide much needed storage. There wasn’t much worth saving in the old kitchen, definitely not the color.
As you can see, there was very limited cabinets and counter space. The back door and basement steps didn’t escape the orange attach either.

Here’s the after. So much better right? I love how bright it feels now. We painted the walls Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore. Just painting makes such a big difference.
Kitchen After
As you can see we still need to paint the hallway going to the basement. The orange color gives it such an eerie glow.

Dining Room After

The tiny hallway had tons of potential to be a cute space. Even though it was a tiny hall, it still deserved a little love.

Improvement? No but progress.

The former Office (storage/junk room) needed major love. Everything had to come down and sadly meant a lot more work than painting.

We went down to the studs. We installed insulation to the formerly uninsulated wall, adding some much needed warmth. We also expanded the tiny closet by a few feet. Then we drywalled and added new trim to match the rest of the trim downstairs. We painted the walls Moonshine and trim White, both by Benjamin Moore. We also added bamboo flooring (the same as the dining room and kitchen).

I’d say the Office turned new Guestroom is still in the during phase. We haven’t put any permanent furniture in here yet. We got distracted by the kitchen renovation and then the baby room but we are hoping to finish furnishing and decorating to make it more functional.

Office During

Here’s a view of the expanded closet, which does have doors on it now (still need to take updated pictures). We still have lots of plans for this room.

Office During

The one and only bathroom isn’t perfect by any means and definitely needs to be updated. We will definitely paint, replace some of the hardware and the maybe vanity, and replace the window treatments. As for a complete overhaul, that probably won’t happen for quite awhile.

The only upgrade so far, new shower curtain and blinds for the window.

Bathroom
Our bedroom was a bright two-toned blue room with a lot of issues. The wall sconce hung crooked on the wall, the bedroom and closet door had space issues, the trim around the windows was terrible to name a few. Here is the scary before picture:

And this is our bedroom now after we painted the walls, removed the closet door and added a curtain instead, replaced the trim around the window, and did some crazy electrical in order to hang a capiz chandelier. We also purchased a new bed frame and mattress. On our list still is patching up the hole we had to make to do the electrical, adding art to the walls, refinishing the dressers and bed side tables, adding a comfy chair and a throw rug.

The Guest-room eventually became a Nursery. Here are some before photos.

Once we had a baby girl on the way, we decided it was time to give the room a facelift. We actually did quite a bit. We fixed some quirky stuff going on with the ceiling and electrical. Expanded the closet back as far as we could go for added storage and got a new closet door. Replaced the old broken window. Painted the was Moonshine by Benjamin Moore, the same color as the new guest room. Added new trim to the window and doors.

I’m still putting the finishing touches on this room.
