Measure 2 tablespoons of broccoli sprouting seeds into a mason jar. Add water and let sit in a dark cabinet for 12 hours.
After soaking for 12 hours, drain and rinse several times. Turn the jar upside down in a bowl and put back into the dark cabinet.
Rinse and drain 3 times throughout the day to keep the seeds moist.
After about 5 days, the sprouts should be growing well. Place them in a sunlight windowsill to turn them green. Continue to rinse and drain 2-3 times a day.
The sprouts are ready to consume once they have turned a dark green. Replace the sprouting lid with a standard mason jar lid. Put in the fridge to keep fresh. It is best to consume the sprouts within a week.
Optional Step - before sprouting rinse the seeds in a bit of apple cider vinegar and water to help kill any harmful bacteria that might be on the seeds.
Optional Step - before storing them, rinse the sprouts in a bowl of water and a splash of apple cider vinegar to kill potential harmful bacteria. This also helps to remove some of the seed shells that will float to the top. Be sure to drain them well. Wrapping them in a paper towel helps to absorb moisture and keep them fresher.
